This was the most compelling read! A rare combination of stunning prose and page turning plot meant i flew through this book and felt immersed with the characters and the world created in it. It was devastating and thought provoking and brilliant. I learnt so much about a world i knew little about and felt a rollercoaster of emotions. Highly recommend!
Couldn't stop readingAnnie
This is a truly remarkable novel. I rarely find myself unable to put a book down, but found myself staying up late much later than I intended every night until I'd finished reading it.
t is beautifully written with some magical and evocative prose that encapsulates the protagonists world and her experience. A remarkable story that conveys the truly human dilemma of trying to find purpose in the world and the relationships that can make or break our sense of self.

Rag Doll Contract is a gripping exposé of corporate law in the City of London, where loyalty to clients—and profit—eclipses all else. The author masterfully contrasts the firm’s soulless ambitions with the heroine’s obsessive pursuit of a New York secondment, which costs her everything—friends, identity, and sanity.
But she’s not the only casualty. Everyone is consumed by a relentless system that chews people up and discards them, blaming individuals rather than the toxic culture.
Written with vivid detail by someone who knows this world inside out, this book offers a powerful critique of the corporate world and the high cost of ambition. It’s a sobering reminder that success often comes at the expense of personal well-being and meaningful connections. The author’s keen observations and sharp writing create a narrative that resonates long after the final page.
For anyone entering or already in a fast-paced, high-stakes career, this book serves as both a cautionary tale and a call to examine the price of success. It's not just a great read—it’s a necessary one for those navigating today's competitive work culture. Highly recommend it for its thought-provoking insights and unflinching honesty.
A masterful exposeMargaret
Olivia is a trainee lawyer at a top law firm with some serious childhood issues that affect the way she behaves. She is not actually a particularly nice character but nevertheless the author somehow has you gunning for her and sympathising when she doesn’t get what she wants. The book moves at pace with dark humour and clearly projects the grinding misery of working long hours in stressful environments. The book is very well written with some lovely prose. It provides a thought provoking insight into the minds of high achievers raised up and then crushed by their career choices. A really good read.
